Zenith B’ball League: First Bank eye Final 8 glory

The series dunked off Thursday at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, with the Elephant Girls winning their opening match against the hard-fighting Royal Aces 76-46 before thumping Titans of Abuja 70-45 on Friday.

Inspired by the team’s captain, Theresa Ebiega, the Elephant Girls overcame a slow start and took apart their opponents in the first game to the excitement of their supporters.

Speaking after their first win, Ebiega said the team was ready to give their all to return the Elephant Girls to the high echelon where they belong.

“We are First Bank; we must come first in all our matches. This is our dream, and we are going to achieve it,” she said.

The team’s coach, Taye Adeniyi, echoed Ebiega’s resolve, asserting the team will do everything it can to return to the number one position when it comes to basketball in Nigeria.
