Yellow Ghana presidential candidate challenges disqualification from presidential race

Samuel Apea-Danquah

An independent presidential candidate who doubles as the founder and leader of Yellow Ghana, Samuel Apea-Danquah, has raised concerns about his disqualification by the Electoral Commission (EC) from the 2024 presidential race.

On Friday, September 20, EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa announced that Mr Apea-Danquah, who contested as an independent parliamentary candidate in the 2020 election failed to meet the nomination requirements.

She cited issues such as incomplete forms and missing documentation, despite allowing Mr Apea-Danquah to rectify the anomalies and correct them.

“Mr Samuel Apea-Danquah, an independent candidate was, however, presented with a number of issues to resolve including not filing tax certificate for his vice presidential candidate and then some of his pages were omitted from the form and he had incomplete particulars for some of his supporters.
