Works to begin at Accra Sports Stadium ahead of proposed CAF inspection

Accra, Sept. 17, GNA – The Accra Sports Stadium has been temporarily closed to allow for minor repairs ahead of a proposed Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspection.

A source from the National Sports Authority (NSA) confirmed the stadium’s closure for maintenance as Ghana races to meet the CAF’s deadline for submitting a new stadium for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan.

This comes after the CAF revoked its approval of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for Black Stars matches due to technical issues, including an unsuitable playing surface.
