The Contributory Pension Scheme was established in June 2004 by the Pension Reform Act 2004, which was repealed and re-enacted in July 2014 as PRA 2014.
She recalled days of long queues of retirees and posited that only a law on that scale could have turned the lives of millions around.
Speaking at the recently held Retiree Forum of the company in Lagos, Oluwashina said, “Every time I think about it, I’m like N20tn (as the value of the pension funds). You know, I’m opportune to be one of those who started the industry right at the beginning. I know when we started. I know what it was like. I know the conversations we have had in 2004, 2005.
And I know what conversations we’re having today. Now we’re engaging people on how they want more. Now it’s about me. I want more.
