The Finance Ministry has responded to the circulation of a letter concerning Ghana's ongoing negotiations with Trafigura, a global commodities trading company.
The letter, which surfaced on social media on September 24, 2024, has sparked public discussions, with some interpreting it as a sign of the government's inaction on a pending settlement agreement.
The Ministry, however, has refuted these claims, clarifying that it has already made the necessary arrangements to fulfil its financial obligations to Trafigura as part of a negotiated settlement.
According to the Ministry, the letter referenced ongoing discussions aimed at resolving the matter and should not be misconstrued as government negligence.
