UPDATED: Tobi Amusan fails to qualify for Olympics 100m hurdles final

However, Amusan’s chance was marred by the subsequent qualification of Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent who finished at 12.44s and France’s Cyrena Samba-Mayela who finished at 12.52s in the Heat 3.

On Wednesday, Amusan led the pack of eight athletes with 12.49s, followed by America’s Alaysha Johnson with 12.61s and Jamaica’s Janeek Brown with 12.84s.

Despite being one of the favourites for Team Nigeria to win a gold medal at the Olympics, her recent performance is another in a series of Nigeria’s disappointing outings at the Olympics.

Her time of 12.55s left her in the ninth place, just one spot outside the top eight who made it into Saturday’s final.

The qualified athletes for the final of the women’s 100m hurdles include Grace Stark (USA), Devynne Charlton (Bahamas), Alaysha Johnson (USA), Nadine Visser (Netherlands), Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (Puerto Rico), Masai Russell (USA), Ackera Nugent (Jamaica) and Cyrena Samba-Mayela (France).
