STEM Africa Fest supports 4,500 young innovators

It disclosed that the event, themed, “Igniting Change through CleanTech and STEAM”, was recently held in Abuja and Lagos.

It noted that there was a STEM quiz and pitch competition, where participants competed for over N3m in prizes.

It noted that one of the participants, Ohiagu Chidiebere from Owerri, won the pitch competition, and went home the N1m grand prize.

The keynote speaker at the Abuja event, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Dr Aminu Maida, said, “STEAM education results in students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, and critical thinking.”

In Lagos, the keynote speaker, the Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Environment and Ecological Management, Dr Femi Adegoke, spoke about the importance of STEAM from an early age.
