Six Nigerian startups selected for Visa accelerator programme

According to the firm, the selected Nigerian startups—Aku, Cleva, Curacel, E-doc Online, Raenest, and Bridgecard—were part of a broader group of fintech companies from across Africa.

It noted that those startups were primarily involved in the payment ecosystem, offering innovative solutions in areas such as neo-banking, merchant payments, credit scoring, risk and identity management, embedded finance, social commerce, and escrow services.

Visa explained that the accelerator programme highlighted its commitment to enhancing financial innovation in Africa.

It added that the programme had seen a significant expansion, with startups in Cohort 2 operating across 28 African countries, a 55 per cent increase from the 18 countries represented in Cohort 1.

It stated that 65 per cent of the startups in the current cohort were led by women, up from 43 per cent in the inaugural edition.
