Parliamentary candidate profiling: Yohane Amarh Ashitey to rescue Tema East seat for NPP

Tema, Oct 2, GNA – Mr Yohane Amarh Ashitey, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Tema East, has expressed confidence that he will rescue the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) back to the ruling party in the December 7 general election.

The Tema East constituency, which used to be a safe seat for the NPP, went to the NDC when Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten snatched it with over 55 percent of the ballots cast in the 2020 general election.

Mr Ashitey, who is also the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, noted in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he was poised to return the seat to the NPP as he had achieved a lot in the area in his current position.

He noted that when voted as the representative of the people of Tema East at Parliament, he would build an ultramodern library for the area to boost education and research, as well as build a community centre for the people of Tema Manhean.

He added that as part of his vision for the constituency, he would establish a youth skills training centre and support scheme to provide the youth with skills to create jobs for themselves and help employ others to reduce the unemployment rate in the area.
