Okon-George inspires daughter Uwana at National Youth Games

Nwana is taking after her 32-year-old mother, who has been representing Nigeria for over a decade, with intimidating accomplishments, which are also tall orders for the young Nwana.

Patience represented Nigeria in the 400m event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China, and also at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

She is a two-time African Championships bronze medallist in the individual 400 metres event and also a three-time Nigerian national champion in the event.

Also in her kitty are 4 × 400 m relay silver at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, where she also competed in the 4x100m relay. The following year, she set a new PB of 50.76s in the 400 m at the Resisprint meeting in the Swiss city of La Chaux-de-Fonds.

In 2019, Patience won the gold medal in the women’s 4 × 400 m relay at the 2019 African Games held in Rabat, Morocco.
