Representing her state of origin this time, Kwairanga barred the 2023 experience as well as the circumstances that caused her to be the state’s sole representative in Asaba this year and won three gold medals.

Director of Sports at the Gombe State Sports Commission, Zainab Adamu, told our correspondent that the state had planned to feature over 100 athletes at the games but were hindered by circumstances she couldn’t explain.

“I feel fulfilled; Munyal Kwairanga has done us proud,” she told our correspondent.

“We planned to bring about 116 athletes to Asaba, but we could not, due to issues I can’t even explain. We did all that we could, but it didn’t happen, and I think it’s because Governor Muhammad Yahaya wasn’t around too at about the time we were preparing to go.”

She added that other states were also ready to poach the promising gymnast, like Ogun did last year, until the intervention of her parents and the state’s Deputy Governor, Manassah Jatau, who responded in the absence of the Governor.
