Nigerian gospel artistes star in faith-based movie, Chains

Obasi in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, said the movie which explores the struggles and triumphs within the gospel music industry, will premiere in Abuja and Lagos before its nationwide theatrical release on August 16, 2024.

He added that the film, set in the contemporary gospel music ministry and the wider music industry, tells the story of a gospel artiste’s journey to reconcile his faith with the pressure of the industry.

Obasi explained that the film’s narrative focuses on “God’s overwhelming love and the eternal quest for a lost soul,” delving into the internal conflicts that arise when pursuing one’s dreams in a challenging world.

Obasi highlighted the film’s mission to illuminate God’s love and its potential to inspire change.

He stated, “Films have become more influential in shaping societal norms and values than even the Sunday School classroom. Every piece of content drives an agenda. Since darkness is merely the absence of light, the problem with the world is not the darkness itself but the failure of light-bearers to shine in the marketplace.
