NCF fetes Junior Female Yellow Greens

Their unbeaten run, as well as the superior head-to-head record against Zimbabwe, sealed their ticket to the World Cup, which will be played from January 18 to February 2 in Malaysia next year.

NCF president, Uyi Akpata, said the achievement was another testament to the board’s concerted efforts towards cricket development in recent years.

“Most people are surprised, but we are not because we have been deliberate in terms of our development programmes, especially for the girls,” Akpata told our correspondent.

“We have consistently had the PwC U-17 tournament, where the captain of the team scored a century some four years ago, and each person has gone through that pipeline.”

The captain of the team, Lucky Piety, also dedicated the victory to the board and other cricket stakeholders in the country.
