The VC used the occasion to announce the university’s top-up programme, which allows holders of Higher National Diplomas to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in just 24 months, spanning six semesters. He added that this initiative is available in various fields, including Accounting, Building, and Sociology, among others.
“As you embark on this academic journey, it is imperative to remind you of the core values that guide us as an institution. Osun State University upholds the highest standards of discipline, and we expect each of you to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing student conduct.
“Let me be unequivocal: any student found engaging in negative vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, or other forms of misconduct will face the full weight of disciplinary action, including possible expulsion from the university. We take immense pride in our zero-tolerance policy towards any behaviour that tarnishes the reputation of this esteemed institution.
“However, as part-time students, many of whom are mature individuals juggling multiple responsibilities, I am confident that you will exemplify good behaviour and remain focused on your academic goals,” Adebooye said.
He urged the students to approach their studies with passion, determination, and integrity, noting that the knowledge and skills they acquire at the university would not only serve them in their personal development but also enable them to contribute meaningfully to society and the wider world.
