Mahama promises to reinstate automatic recruitment of nurses

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has vowed to restore the automatic recruitment of nursing trainees if elected into office.

The former President made this promise during an address to students at the Ntotroso Nursing and Midwifery College in the Ahafo Region, where he outlined key policies aimed at supporting the nursing profession.

In addition to reinstating automatic recruitment, Mahama pledged to review the current nursing trainees' allowance system to address longstanding concerns within the sector.

He emphasised that these reforms are part of the NDC’s broader plan to enhance the healthcare workforce and improve working conditions for nurses.

Mr Mahama also highlighted the party’s commitment to waiving academic user fees for first-year university students, ensuring that education remains accessible to all.
