Lagos trains 50 pupils in swimming

The Commissioner for Transportation, Osiyemi Oluwaseun, explained that the programme was meant to promote safe swimming.

He said that the initiative also aimed to boost patronage of waterways transportation and reduce road congestion.

He explained that the one-week programme held at Gbagda ended Friday with the pupils excited at their new skills.

“The programme, now in its fourth edition Shomolu/Bariga Area, was a tough decision as their schools are not connected to much water for their daily transportation.

“Beyond that, the children are the best people to communicate whatever message we are trying to pass to their parents as regards using waterways.
