The Democracy Hub has expressed strong disapproval of the Ghana Police Service’s characterisation of their recent protests as "unGhanaian."
In a response to the police's warning following their demonstration, the group argued that such labelling is disrespectful and undermines the essence of civic engagement in the country.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, September 22, leaders of the Democracy Hub emphasised that their actions were aimed at highlighting pressing national issues and should be viewed as a fundamental part of democratic expression.
They insisted that protests are a legitimate means for citizens to voice their concerns and hold the government accountable, rather than being dismissed as unpatriotic.
The group also criticised the police for failing to facilitate a peaceful demonstration, asserting that their protest was conducted within the bounds of the law.
