Kwasi Appiah temporarily resigns from GFA Exco member position after CAF directive

Accra, Oct. 7, GNA – Sudan national team head coach, Kwasi Appiah, has temporarily stepped down from his position as a member of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

His temporal resignation comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) urged him to consider stepping down from either role temporarily as Ghana prepares to face Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

According to CAF, Kwasi Appiah’s multiple duties for Ghana and Sudan violate CAF statutes and the FIFA Code of Ethics, thereby urging him to temporarily quit from at least one post.

Kwasi Appiah, in his response to CAF, cited a conflict of interest as the cause for his temporary resignation, and he has since excused himself from all GFA Exco obligations.

Kwasi Appiah is unlikely to face consequences from the CAF Disciplinary Board following his resignation from the GFA Executive Committee.
