Kericho Governor Erick Mutai has been impeached.
Mutai’s fate was sealed after the 31 Members of the County Assembly who debated his ouster motion unanimously voted in support.
This is despite the governor having secured a court order barring the ward representatives from prosecuting the impeachment motion.
Some 16 MCAs boycotted the impeachment debate in a move that appeared calculated to deny the assembly the two-thirds threshold needed to impeach the governor.
