Kabras Sugar on Saturday had to dig deep to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Kabeberi Sevens after registering mixed results during the day one action played at RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

The National Sevens Circuit leaders begun their campaign with a disappointing 22-17 defeat to Strathmore University Leos, a result that left the millers in a do or die situation in their remaining two matches.

Led by former Kenya Sevens winger Felix Ayange, Kabras responded like champions by hammering Impala 31-7 courtesy of Biden Hayo, William Muhanji, Derrick Ashiundu and Brian Mutua tries.

With Strathmore finishing top after winning all their matches, the remaining automatic ticket to quarters remained open for both Kabras and Nakuru RFC who had each won a match.
