Jospong Group to Help Ugandan Government Tackle Waste Management Challenges

Also, JGC plans to invest in integrated composting and recycling systems and transfer stations, providing comprehensive waste treatment and disposal solutions to improve environmental sanitation in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.

This system will produce organic compost for agricultural and horticultural applications, while recovered plastics will serve as raw materials for a new bin manufacturing facility.

A release issued by the Jospong Group and copied to the Ghana News agency said the initiative is expected to create over 2,000 direct jobs for Ugandans. This collaborative project follows a devastating waste slide on August 10, 2024, resulting in 23 fatalities and significant property damage.

It said Jospong Group, renowned for its extensive experience in Africa and Asia, is well-equipped to handle this project. As a highly diversified holdings company with many subsidiaries, they possess the expertise to effectively manage waste and promote sustainability.

The project handover ceremony, held recently, drew notable attendees including Minister for Kampala, Joseph Kyofatogabye, and Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of JGC in Kampala, East Africa.
