Joshua open to Wilder fight

Failed negotiations and other routes put a hold on it and both men ultimately lost their titles, Wilder to Tyson Fury and Joshua to Oleksandr Usyk – the two men who recently fought for undisputed with Usyk coming out on top.

Because of the power both men carry, there was still interest in a final eliminator to decide who might face the winner of Fury-Usyk. Joshua was tasked with coming through Otto Wallin first, which he did, and Wilder was faced with Joseph Parker.

Parker put in a career-best performance and beat the American over the distance. Wilder’s second chance at setting up the fight was against Zhilei Zhang but he was knocked out in five rounds.

With those back-to-back losses, the knockout artist from Alabama has now faced calls to retire at 38-years-old. For many, the Joshua fight is dead in the water, but not the man himself.

In an interview with DAZN, ‘AJ’ said he remains open to the clash despite Wilder’s recent form.
