Inadequate publicity in Krachi East hampering voter exhibition exercise

Dambai (O/R), Aug 21, GNA – The Electoral Commission’s ongoing Voter Exhibition exercise got-off slowly in the Krachi East Constituency of the Oti Region due to the inadequate publicity efforts.

A visit to some exhibition centres by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) saw the exercise started slowly at Kwame-Akura East, Dambai Health Centre, Lapaz Park, Banka, Anyabour No2, KpareKpare, Togbe-kope, Nwane, Kpelema and Dormabin, which recorded low turnout for both day one and two.

Mr Manasseh Konja, the exhibition officer at KpareKpare centre, told the GNA that out of 500 eligible voters on the register, only five voters had checked their names.

He said the voter exhibition was the bedrock of Ghana’s democracy and if the citizens were disinterested, then that was a cause of worry.

“The exercise needs more publicity because it appears people are not aware, they should come and give us work, we sat here yesterday and today doing almost nothing,” he said.
