Iheanacho shines in first Sevilla training

The 27-year-old delighted onlookers with deft touches on the ball and short sprints as the coaching staff conducted several drills in preparation for Sunday’s friendly match against Liverpool.

Iheanacho, who joined the La Liga outfit on a free, signing-year contract, has been over the clouds since arriving at the club, where he expects to play regularly alongside Nigeria teammate Chidera Ejuke.

He became a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City at the end of last season, sending a plethora of clubs on his trail. He chose Sevilla above all and explained the decision during his first interview as a Sevilla player as cited by their official website.

He said, “Yes, there were offers from many clubs. But obviously, there was a clear idea of what they wanted me to do here and why they brought me here in football terms.

“I’ve had the opportunity to do personal training with a coach in preseason. That also helps me stay fit. I’m not far from 100 per cent. I can play as a lone striker or as a two. Anywhere you put me, I can play. I just want to play with my heart and leave everything out there on the pitch.”
