FG distributes CNG kits to transport unions

The Project Director and Chief Executive Officer of the P-CNGI, Michael Oluwagbemi, while speaking at a motor park rally in Abuja, said the initiative would convert one million commercAial vehicles free across the country in the next two years.

Oluwagbemi noted the distribution of the CNG conversion kits and cylinders would serve as a relief to reduce the cost of transportation, adding that the transporters would enjoy concessionary pricing for gas usage.

“In all of this, you will be enjoying cheaper cost of fuel. Mr President has ensured this by working with the NMDPRA (Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority) to give concessionary pricing for gas. This is to ensure that you are filling your vehicles with gas at between N230 and N300/kg.

“Beyond the conversion workshop in place, the equipment provided, your different unions will be nominating you in the coming days so that this conversion workshop will be able to implement the conversion that is necessary. But after your vehicle is converted, it requires gas. Across the country today, we are working with our partners at NNPCL, NIPCO, BOVAS and various other organisations to ensure that CNG fuelling stations are made available to you so that you can refuel your vehicles without any stress,” he stated.

Oluwagbemi explained that the conversion was for commercial vehicles that constitute a very large percentage of the transport sector.
