Examination Irregularities: WAEC will sanction culprits

Accra, Oct 02, GNA-The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it will sanction all examination officials and stakeholders found culpable in several infractions during the 2024 WASSCE.

“The Council will take appropriate action to ensure that all examination officials and stakeholders who were found culpable are sanctioned in accordance with appropriate provisions of rules and regulations governing the conduct of the examination.

A statement issued by Mr John K Kapi, Head of Public Affairs, WAEC National Office, said the Council’s actions stemmed from several infractions uncovered by it during the conduct of the 2024 WASSCE.

The statement mentioned some infractions uncovered by the council as photocopying of answers and distribution of same to candidates, hiding of foreign material on candidates in the examination halls, and smuggling of mobile phones into examination halls by candidates and teachers.

The rest are writing answers on boards for candidates to copy, use of projectors to display answers on the board for candidates to copy and the use of Mobile phones to take snapshots of questions and posting of same on social media.
