EC has the responsibility to execute free, fair elections – Deputy Minority Leader

Sekondi (W/R), Sept. 17, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, says the Electoral Commission (EC) has the responsibility to ensure a level playing field for all political parties for a free, fair and transparent elections on December 7.

He said the EC must listen to the concerns of all parties, particularly the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the voter’s register and take steps to address those issues for peace to prevail before, during and after the elections.

Mr Buah, also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, was speaking to the media after the Western Region NDC marched through some principal streets of Sekondi-Takoradi to the Regional EC Office, at Sekondi, to present a petition on their concerns on alleged irregularities in the voter’s register.

He said, “This demonstration is to basically inform the Electoral Commission that they have a responsibility to execute free, fair and transparent elections, and also for the peace, security and stability of our country”.
