The operators speaking through the Association of Licensed Telecommunication Operators of Nigeria made the request during an exclusive interview with The PUNCH on Tuesday.
Four major telecoms companies operate in the country which include MTN Nigeria Communications PLC, Airtel Networks Limited (Airtel Africa PLC), Globacom Limited and 9Mobile (Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Ltd).
The disconnection of the telephone lines coincided with the anticipated August 1 nationwide protests, raising concerns among citizens about a potential communication disruption.
