He said the institute would explore the role of corporate governance in economic recovery.

Borodo noted that the failure of corporate governance contributed to Nigeria’s economic challenges, especially the inactivity of state-run oil refineries.

He stated, “Apart from economics, it is a question of governance. Over the years, that is what has happened. If there were true governance in running these refineries, we would not be where we are now.”

Borodo maintained that Nigeria’s government agencies must imbibe good corporate governance in their practices to address poverty, adding that the theme for the annual conference was ‘Good Governance as a Catalyst for Economic Recovery, Growth and Development’.

“This underscores the critical role that corporate governance plays in advancing economic transformation and national development.
