Boniface scores back-to-back for Leverkusen

Jonas Hofmann found the net in the eight minutes as Xabi Alonso’s men raced to a 2-0 early lead, but the newly promoted Holstein Kiel mounted a remarkable comeback to earn a valuable point on the road.

The draw sees Leverkusen slip to fifth in the Bundesliga table, now two points behind leaders Bayern Munich. It also marks the second time this season that Alonso’s side has given up a two-goal lead, having previously lost 3-2 to RB Leipzig.

Boniface has been in scintillating form this season, having already notched seven goals and provided five assists in just eight Bundesliga appearances. His recent performances, including his maiden Champions League goal against Milan, make him a favourite of the Leverkusen faithful.

“I’m happy I got the first goal in the Champions League, so I feel really proud of myself,” added Boniface, whose form will be crucial to Leverkusen’s Bundesliga and Champions League aspirations
