Bawumia will promote responsible mining

Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), popularly known as NAPO, has reassured Ghanaians that a future Bawumia-led government will not impose a ban on small-scale mining.

He emphasised that small-scale miners will be empowered to engage in responsible mining practices while expanding their operations under the next NPP administration.

Speaking at a campaign event in the Manso Adubia constituency in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, October 8, NAPO highlighted the party's stance on mining.

He assured the community members and party supporters that the government recognizes the importance of small-scale mining to the livelihoods of many Ghanaians and the national economy.

NAPO further explained the need to differentiate between responsible, regulated small-scale mining and the destructive activities associated with illegal mining, often referred to as "galamsey."
