Amenfi Central MP unfazed by petition to vacate seat

The Amenfi Central MP, Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah, has dismissed concerns over the petition filed by the Minority caucus seeking to declare his seat vacant.

Speaking to the media in Parliament on Tuesday, October 15, Kwakye-Ackah expressed indifference toward the petition, stating that he is unbothered by the actions taken against him by his former party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Kwakye-Ackah, who is now running as an independent candidate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, explained that his decision to part ways with the NDC was due to what he perceives as unfair treatment by the party.

He cited the NDC’s endorsement of his opponent as their preferred parliamentary candidate for the Amenfi Central constituency, which, according to him, left him no choice but to contest independently.

The MP emphasised that his focus is now on pursuing his independent bid and representing his constituents without the constraints of party politics.
