Akpaloo claims Organised Labour’s galamsey-induced nationwide strike is politically inspired

The presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, has asserted that organised labour’s planned nationwide strike against illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, is politically motivated.

His comments come amid growing tensions surrounding the issue of illegal mining and its impact on the environment.

In an interview with Citi FM on Monday, October 7, Akpaloo expressed skepticism about the motivations behind the strike.

He argued that the timing and nature of the protest indicate underlying political motives rather than a genuine concern for the environmental and social ramifications of galamsey.

According to him, the actions of organised labour appear to be less about protecting Ghana's natural resources and more about advancing a specific political agenda.
