75% of Nigerian, Ghanaian workers ready to adopt GenAI – Report

The report said 150,000 workers across 188 countries were surveyed as part of the 2024 edition of the ‘Decoding Global Talent’ series.

Seventy five per cent of Nigerian and Ghanaian workers indicated a willingness to undergo retraining to stay ahead in their careers, indicating their readiness to adapt to the evolving demands of the labour market driven by technological advancements like GenAI, compared to 23 per cent who would do so only if necessary, the study found.

The Principal at BCG Johannesburg, Adwoa Banful, said there was an evolution and maturation in employee perspectives on AI and an understanding that reskilling is essential for long-term employability.

The report also revealed that Nigerian and Ghanaian workers feel confident in their negotiating power, as 74 per cent of Nigerians and 73 per cent of Ghanaians believed they hold the upper hand when negotiating for jobs, compared to 64 per cent of workers globally.

The study also revealed that Nigerian and Ghanaian workers have clear expectations regarding the recruitment process.
