Betsy Obaseki, who stated this at a press conference on Tuesday in Benin City, said the participating teams are Edo Queens FC, Fortress Ladies FC of Benin, Rivers Angels FC, Nasarawa Amazons FC, Naija Ratel FC, Abuja, Heartland Queens FC of Imo, FC Robo of Lagos, and Ekiti Queens FC.

Others are Delta Queens FC, Confluence Queens FC, Kogi, Bayelsa Queens FC, Abia Angels FC, Espoir FC de Cotonou, Benin Republic, and Aigle Royal d’Adjara, Benin Republic.

Obaseki said the tournament, with the theme “Say no to teen pregnancy and child marriage,” has helped to develop female football players who have gone on to excel on the global stage.

The Edo State First Lady said the competition is being hosted in collaboration with private sector partners to groom and empower the girl child and engender grassroots sports development in Edo State and Nigeria.

Obaseki added that the tournament is borne out of the passion to create opportunities to inspire the girl child while promoting causes that raise awareness about and discourage social vices.
