Yellow Ghana proposes alternative to NDC's 24

The flagbearer of Yellow Ghana, Samuel Apea-Danquah, says that the goals of President John Mahama and the NDC's 24-hour economy policy can be more effectively achieved through two of Yellow Ghana's proposed Labour Reforms.

According to him, these reforms, detailed on Page 83 of their manifesto, involve setting maximum working hours and implementing a freeze on overtime.

Mr Apea-Danquah believes that these measures will promote sustainable job creation and economic stability without the drawbacks associated with the 24-hour economy.

In a Facebook post by Yellow Ghana, it stated that “Maximum Working Hours: By setting a cap on the number of working hours per week, we ensure that employees are not overworked and have a balanced life. This policy promotes better health, higher productivity, and a more motivated workforce. It also encourages businesses to hire more employees to meet their operational needs, thereby creating more jobs.

Mr Apea-Danquah noted that “Freeze on Overtime: Implementing a freeze on overtime prevents the exploitation of workers and ensures that businesses do not rely on excessive overtime to meet their targets. This policy promotes the hiring of additional staff, spreading employment opportunities more evenly, and reducing unemployment rates.”
