Japa: Don calls for measures to retain talent

Speaking at the fourth Emeritus Professor Oladipupo Akinkugbe Distinguished Lecture at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Omigbodun highlighted the critical issue of youth migration, stressing its national significance.

While acknowledging the inevitability of individuals seeking better prospects elsewhere, he emphasised the importance of creating conditions that would encourage professionals and intellectuals to remain in Nigeria and contribute to its development.

“People migrating in search of better opportunities is a longstanding national issue.

“We cannot prevent individuals from pursuing their welfare, but we can enhance conditions in Nigeria to retain our professionals and intellectuals, thereby, aiding our national development,” Omigbodun remarked

The professor also noted that those who migrate often return to contribute significantly to the country.
